The Long Wait

With the Cleveland Indians already locked in at the World Series, the Chicago Cubs continue their battle to see their first World Series since 1945.

As we take a look at these two teams, there is one thing in common.

Patience.

Not nearly close to the wait of the Cubs, the Indians have been waiting since 1997 for their return to the biggest stage in the MLB.

We can compare waiting periods all day, but I don’t think it proves who deserves this moment more.

If we just focus on the general world of sports, what is it really all about?

It’s about the fans, the cities, the traditions.

Let’s take a look at the windy city of Chicago:

They have, of course, the Chicago Cubs.

And The Chicago Sky.

So how about Cleveland?

Cleveland Cavaliers.

Hence, giving them more chances to win in multiple areas.

Cleveland on the other hand has suffered with all three of their major sports teams.

The Browns, well, I think everybody knows.

The Indians were lucky enough to break through the 19-year-old World Series golden gate as they defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 5.

And the Cavaliers, well they brought their first NBA championship this past season back to the city that so desperately deserved one.

So it’s pretty clear that Cleveland has had quite the victory drought until 2016.

Don’t believe me? There is literally a Wikipedia page called Cleveland Sports Curse.

Seriously, check it out.

That being said, I believe that the Cleveland Indians deserve to win the World Series more than any of the contenders.

Why? Because the city needs it. The people need it. JR Smith needs it.

With the Browns pulling a typical Browns season already and the Cavs technically off the hook with their championship rings and everything, Clevelanders are now turning to the Tribe for more glory.

Although the drought has been longer for the Chicago Cubs, I believe that Cleveland fans are more deserving of the championship because they have suffered through far worse than pretty much any sports city in the country.

A lot of people vacation out to Chicago, I don’t know how many people actually vacation out to Cleveland.

So let’s just give them this one thing, OK?
